Help for Men & Boys
Rape Crisis London is a service run by women to help women. We know that many men and boys are raped and sexually assaulted and so suffer the same traumas that women do. But because our centres are for women only, we aren’t able to offer men or boys long-term support.
If you are a man or a boy that has recently experienced rape, you may find it difficult to talk about your experience for fear of being ridiculed or not believed.
Remember, the assault was not your fault. There was nothing you could have done to prevent the rape. Nothing you did gave anyone the right to rape you. The fault lies entirely with the rapist.
There are several things you can do:
- Get medical help from your nearest Haven. The Havens are specialist centres based in NHS hospitals in London for people who have been raped or sexually assaulted. The Havens work with women, men and young people.
- Report the attack to the police. The Metropolitan Police’s dedicated Sapphire Units have specially trained officers to help people that have been raped.
- There are also a number of organisations you can contact to talk in confidence about your experience and get help and support
However, we can give you more information about services for men and boys through our helpline 0808 802 99 99.
